The dream catcher is a handcrafted object of Amerindian origin made for thousands of years.
It consists of a wooden hoop in the middle of which a spider web is woven. A small stone is inserted in the web and feathers are hung at the bottom of the hoop.
During the night, bad dreams are attracted by the stone and trapped in the web while good dreams pass through the holes and down the feathers to the sleeping person.
At sunrise, the nightmares caught in the web are burned by the sun.
According to tradition, the dream catcher should be hung in the bedroom window to filter dreams.
Dreamcatchers are often used as decoration but continue to carry spiritual significance for Native American cultures.
